June 6, 2011- What will I eat, what will I drink

Well it's Monday, and I woke up wondering what I would eat for breakfast. This is definitely  my subconscious coming out and saying, "what's up with this diet?"  Of course I ate the same turkey bacon, cottage cheese and eggs like the previous three days.  Shows how little imagination I have when viewing life through the diet lens.  What, you think I should eat salmon for breakfast? Maybe I will one of these days.  Today, however I am focused on lunch, dinner, lots of diet green tea and not much else. I finally broke the boredom by going to Lowes and the post office.  I belong to a paperback swap club so I constantly get requests to mail off books to other members. They in turn mail me books for free. Pretty good system, and I never run out of anything to read.  Hauled my steamer out of storage and had steamed chicken breast with lemon seasoning for lunch. Cheated a little and had a tablespoon of thousand island dressing.

Dinner time rolled around and I decided to fire up the barbecue and make a giant turkey burger with fresh ground turkey and lots of seasoning. Worcestshire sauce, garlic pepper and steak seasoning.  Then I cranked open a 42 oz bottle of diet green tea. It's a good thing I did because my first major test was about to happen.  My best friend from three thousand miles away called and I knew this would be a marathon call. It always is cause we never run out of things to talk about.  Unfortunately our usual long distance conversations include a marathon of cocktails and snacks strung out over the course of the call. I put my turkey burger on warm hold in the oven and  sat down at my patio table with my giant bottle of tea and went for it. I survived a three hour marathon call, drank 42 ounces of tea, and somewhere an hour into it ate the turkey burger with cottage cheese. After the call ended I read two pages of a book and collapsed into bed to sleep the night through until six the next morning. The next morning would bring good news.
