I got up this morning and pulled out the scale from under my brothers bed and set it down on the hardwood floor in my room. This will be the moment of truth. I have hardwood floors, no wall to lean on and a digital scale that does not lie. And.... I now weigh 188. Two pounds gone.Well, this is day three of my new diet. It's still raining, cold and cloudy outside but I am into a new book and have decided to clean house and do laundry. I had turkey bacon, two eggs, and cottage cheese for breakfast. By the time lunch time rolled around I am definitely hungry and fixed a cod fillet along with a can of albacore tuna and some more cottage cheese. My obsession with food is still lingering in the back of my mind but I am more focused on other things and later notice how thirsty I am. I'm supposed to drink plenty of fluids so I'll have to pay attention to that. Dinner time is here and I am having two skinless, boneless chicken breasts with mustard and horseradish on the side. Yes, horseradish! I love it cause it's tangy and flavorable. Just be sure you buy the kind with no sugar, fructose, etc added.
I am amazed how sneaky grocery store food can be. Fructoses or sugar seems to be added to everything. Oh and I just found out that modified food starch is another word for carbs. It seems we need a science degree to read the label. I would prefer the front label to say the following. No sugar, no salt, no fat, no carbs, or any variation thereof. That's what we need is simple labels to make fast choices. Any manufacturer out there listening?
I started this blog to motivate myself to lose weight for the final time in my life. Then I realized that many other people struggle with their weight and might get some ideas from this blog. Most diet web sites simply describe menus, exercise, etc. I will do some of that but the reality is I'm just like you and will struggle. I will say I chose the Dukan diet just because it happens to be the current rage, but I could easily have chosen the grapefruit diet (joke from the past).
