June 10, 2011- Bring an egg to work day

Yay, it's Friday.  Out of bed, onto the scale and !!! lost another pound, now 185 lbs. Total weight lost for first week 5.4 pounds.  Still a long way to go but this is definitely motivation.  This morning I took two dogs on a twenty minute walk around the neighborhood, unloaded the dishwasher, the dryer, packed my lunch (tuna, green beans, diced tomatoes and nonfat cottage cheese) and got ready for work.  Had time to eat cottage cheese and 3 pieces turkey bacon (total 200 cal). Had boiled eggs last night so took one egg and some sliced red bell pepper in my lunch bag for snacks.

Today is a Dukan protein plus veggie day so I am definitely ready to face the speed zone called the office.  Have changed so many habits in the last seven days it's scary.  Black coffee, tea, diet sodas, water, are the only liquid to cross my lips. Had one small crisis four days in when I really wanted a glass of wine.  Resistance won out.  Then of course you all read about yesterday with the massive food speed traps that cropped up throughout the day.

Well, after drinking black coffee on the way to work; I went into the kitchen at work to get more. Naturally two ladies were already there discussing how they should go for the donuts this morning and would die if they didn't get one.  So of course I obsessed for about ten minutes wondering where in this office of five hundred people were the donuts?  In the end, I ate my lonely boiled egg.  Outside the roach coach has just blown  the horn  for break time.  I had a couple bad experiences eating food (read grease) from that truck, so I'm not tempted. I brought the egg in a plastic ziplock bag, which was handy. Just rolled the egg around to crack the shell and all the mess stayed in the bag.   I now have 2-1/2 hours till lunch and plenty of liquid to sustain me in the meantime.

OK it's 10:30 a.m. and my neighbors in the next aisle are already debating the merits of Carl's Jr. vs Burger Station vs. In an Out Burger also price increases of burgers- uh oh, a dissenting voice is advocating burritos.  This is what I meant by speed zones in cubicle land. You're better off to put on headphones or get up and cruise the office- cause food conversations are like weeds, they spring up everywhere!

Lunchtime is around the corner and I'm looking forward to the beginning of the weekend already.  Hope all of you have a great one too:! (now if I could just come up with imitation wine I'd be all set for a Friday night LOL).
