June 5, 2011- The dining place

Today is Sunday, day four of my new diet (Dukan). I took the dogs to the park this morning so they are happy and I got some exercise. I am still contemplating the gym membership I've had for a year and all the money I spent on that without going there.  Does thinking about it count for anything?
I am ready for anything now and have gone to the grocery store and bought more chicken, fish, and cottage cheese.  I am still in the attack phase of this diet which means nothing but protein, fluids, and nonfat dairy products. It seems pretty extreme, but I really don't miss the carbs at this point. I put my favorite sourdough in the freezer until I reach the maintenance phase which probably won't be until the end of summer.

I enjoyed the quiet this morning with my roommate and my brother both gone for a few hours. This rarely happens so I have started thinking about how I can have creative or alone time on a consistent basis. I also have decided to decorate my dining room table in the living room with new placemats and a vase full of roses. When I redid my house after flooding last fall I decided that there would be no TV in this room and I am really glad I did.   This will become my special spot to have dinner.  My roommate and my brother prefer to spend their meal times parked in front of the TV in the family room/kitchen so my special dining area will be a treat for me.  I think it's important to not eat standing up or in front of the TV because then you really can't appreciate what you're putting into your mouth.   I was raised to sit down to every meal with my family but these days everyone is rushing in different directions and on different schedules.  So in the interest of my own sanity  I am contemplating future little oases which are all mine.

Had london broil  with horseradish tonight. Sliced it really thin and enjoyed every bite!
